Rottweiler Teething At 18 Months

25/03/1970 In memory of Bishop Romero

March 24 is the anniversary of the death of Bishop Oscar Arnulfo Romero, murdered by the military regime in El Salvador in 1980. A good way to remember is to re-read the poem written for him by David Maria Turoldo.

In memory of Bishop Romero

in God's name I pray, I beseech you,
command you: Do not kill!
Soldiers, thrown weapons ...
Who reminds you again, brother
Romero?

killed countless times by their lead and by our silence.
killed all killed, even
man
priesthood that all victims
summarize and consecrate.
killed because people did:
killed because you did fall
arms
armed to the poor, the poorest of those killed
:
for this still and always killed.
Romero, you will always be killed, and there never will be a
Ethiopian

someone who pleads for mercy.
There will be a powerful, ever, that

of these disorders have mercy, Lord?
no one who is killed?
will always be so, Lord?

David Maria Turoldo
